TPMS tools and tyre pressure sensors

To replace a tyre pressure sensor you need two things: a sensor that suits your car and a tool to program it. Here you have the iCarsoft TPMS V800 programming tool and the S6000 universal sensor.

How direct TPMS works

On cars with direct TPMS, each wheel has a sensor that measures the pressure and sends it by radio, at 315 or 433 MHz depending on the market. The car recognises each sensor by its ID. When one fails or you change wheels, the new one needs an ID the car will accept, and then you have to run a relearn. Otherwise the tyre pressure warning light stays on.

The workflow in four steps

  1. Read the original sensor with the TPMS V800 to get its ID and status.
  2. Program an S6000 for your model or copy the original's ID onto it.
  3. Fit the sensor to the wheel.
  4. Run the relearn so the car recognises it.

You'll find the details in how to program TPMS sensors.

Who it's for

For tyre shops and fast-fit garages, and for anyone who changes wheels at home and is fed up with the warning light. The multi-brand tools in the CR range can run a TPMS relearn, but programming or cloning a blank sensor is a job for the V800.

Frequently asked questions

Can I fit the S6000 without programming it?

No. It arrives blank and has to be programmed, or have the ID cloned onto it, with a compatible tool such as the V800.

How many sensors do I need?

As many as you are replacing. If only one has failed, one is enough; they are sold individually.

Is the V800 good for more than TPMS?

Yes, it is also a diagnostic tool: it reads all systems on 58 makes and does jobs such as oil, electronic parking brake, DPF and battery.
