VAWS V2.0 description
The iCarsoft VAWS V2.0 is iCarsoft's diagnostic tool for the Volkswagen Group. It reads every control unit on VW, Audi, SEAT and Skoda from 1996 onwards and has 9 service functions. It costs €194.95 and it's our best-selling single-make tool.
The jobs a modern VAG car needs
On a recent Golf, Leon or Octavia, changing the rear pads is no longer a job for a spanner: the electronic parking brake has to go into workshop mode. A new battery has to be registered so the alternator charges it properly. And a TDI that does lots of town driving eventually throws up a particulate filter warning. Those are the three reasons most people buy this tool, and it handles all three.
The rest of the nine: oil service and inspection reset, injector coding, steering angle, ABS bleeding, throttle adaptation and TPMS reset. For the pads, follow how to open an electronic parking brake.
The whole group, vans included
As well as cars, it covers Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, the LT3 and light MAN vans, and at the top end Bentley, Bugatti and Lamborghini. It speaks CAN-FD, used on the group's newest platforms, and TP2.0 for older models. It reads the VIN when you plug it in.
Where the VAWS V2.0 falls short
It has no actuator tests; iCarsoft has those on the VAWS V3.0. It doesn't code control units either. It's a tool for diagnostics and servicing, with buttons and a 4" screen.
V2.0 or V1.0?
The VAWS V1.0 reads the same cars and costs €60 less, but only does oil and steering angle. If your car has an electronic parking brake or a particulate filter, you'll get that €60 back on the first pad change you don't pay a garage for. We compare the two generations in V1 vs V2.
