CR Max BT description
The iCarsoft CR Max BT is the CR Max with a Bluetooth VCI. The dongle stays in the OBD2 port while you work with the 7" tablet in your hand. Inside it's the same tool: 58 makes, all systems, active tests, 50 service functions and coding across 8 groups. It costs €559.95.
When going wireless really pays off
When you work on your own. Bleeding the ABS wheel by wheel, watching the radiator fan while you switch it on from the screen, or checking a headlight from the front of the car. With a cable you end up walking back and forth to the driver's door. With the Bluetooth VCI the tablet goes wherever the job is, including under the car over the pit.
The box includes an extension lead for the VCI, handy when the OBD2 port is tucked away somewhere awkward.
What it does
It scans every control unit with AutoVIN, reads and clears codes and shows live data and freeze frame. It runs active tests on injectors, the fuel pump or the throttle. And it has 50 service functions: the maintenance ones (oil, electronic parking brake, steering angle, DPF, battery, TPMS and more) plus others such as air suspension, turbo, EGR, AdBlue, GPF and high-voltage battery. For a feel of everyday use, our oil service reset guide shows how you work with it.
DoIP: accessory only
Like the CR Max, it handles CAN-FD out of the box, but the DoIP needed by many recent BMW, Volvo and Jaguar Land Rover models requires a separate accessory. If plenty of those cars come through your workshop, the CR Max P makes more sense: DoIP built in, a 10" screen and twice the battery.
Is it worth it over the cabled CR Max?
You pay about €60 more for freedom of movement. If the tool will live on a workbench, the CR Max does exactly the same job. If you work around the car, go for the BT. All the tablets are in workshop diagnostic tools.
