CR Max P description
The iCarsoft CR Max P is the big CR Max: a 10" 1280×800 screen, DoIP and CAN-FD built in and a 10000 mAh battery that runs for around 8 hours. It keeps the Bluetooth VCI, active tests, 50 service functions and coding across 8 manufacturer groups. It costs €649.95.
Built for cars from the last few years
More and more new models are diagnosed over Ethernet (DoIP) rather than CAN, and plenty of BMW, Volvo and Jaguar Land Rover models won't let you in properly without it. With the CR Max P there's nothing extra to buy: the RJ45 network cable and USB-to-Ethernet adapter come in the case. It also includes the F-Chassis cable for BMW F-series cars. To understand how the protocols differ, read what DoIP and CAN-FD are.
The functions a modern car actually needs
Beyond basic servicing, its 50 functions cover the jobs that cars with driver assistance and exhaust after-treatment ask for: radar and camera calibration, Head-Up Display, GPF, AdBlue and NOx sensor. Active tests let you check a component before you order it. If a customer turns up with a blocked particulate filter, here's how to regenerate the DPF.
Worth knowing first
It doesn't include adapters for older BMW or Mercedes models with pre-OBD2 sockets. For classic cars in the workshop, the CR Ultra comes with 10 OBD-I adapters.
CR Max P vs CR Max and CR Max BT
All three run the same software with the same 50 functions. What the extra money buys is the 10" screen, 8 hours of battery instead of 5, and DoIP as standard. The CR Max BT is €90 cheaper and needs the DoIP accessory separately. The full comparison is in CR Max vs CR Max P, and if you're moving up from a handheld with buttons, see CR Pro+ vs CR Max P.
