BMM V2.0 description
The iCarsoft BMM V2.0 is iCarsoft's diagnostic tool for BMW, Mini and Rolls-Royce from 1996 to 2025. It reads every system, registers the battery, opens the electronic parking brake and has 7 more service functions. It costs €194.95 and updates free for life.
Why a BMW needs a tool to change the battery
BMWs have a sensor that monitors the battery and adjusts charging to its age. If you fit a new one and don't tell the car, it keeps charging it like the old one, which shortens its life and triggers odd warnings. Battery registration is the most-used function on this make, and the BMM V2.0 does it.
The others you'll use: service reminder reset after an oil change (the general process is in how to do an oil service reset), electronic parking brake for pad changes, DPF regeneration on diesels, steering angle, throttle, injectors, ABS bleeding and TPMS.
All-module diagnostics
It reads and clears faults on the engine, gearbox, ABS/DSC, airbag, lighting, comfort and every other reachable control unit, with live and freeze frame data. It speaks CAN-FD for recent models and KWP2000 or ISO 9141-2 for older ones.
Pre-2001 BMWs
From 2001 onwards the OBD2 cable in the box is all you need. Older BMWs have the round 20-pin socket under the bonnet and need iCarsoft's adapter, sold separately.
BMM V2.0 limits
It doesn't code control units or unlock hidden features, and it doesn't run active tests. For BMW coding there's the CR Max family.
BMM V2.0 or BMM V1.0
The BMM V1.0 reads the same cars but doesn't register batteries: it only does oil and steering angle, with a 2.8" screen and 6 languages. On a current BMW, the V2.0 is the one that pays for itself.
