BMM V1.0 description
The iCarsoft BMM V1.0 is the most affordable make-specific tool for BMW, Mini and Rolls-Royce. It reads every system on models from 1996 to 2025, does the service reset and steering angle, and updates free for life. It costs €134.95.
A great pick for a classic BMW
If you have an E30, E36, E34, an early E39 or E46, an E38, a Z3 or an early X5 E53, your car uses the round 20-pin socket under the bonnet. With iCarsoft's 20-pin adapter, sold separately, the BMM V1.0 can talk to it. For reading faults and clearing the service light on a car of that era, you don't need anything more. From 2001 onwards, the OBD2 cable in the box is all you need.
What you can do with the BMM V1.0
It scans the engine, gearbox, ABS, airbag and every other reachable module, and clears their faults. It supports all 10 OBD2 modes: I/M readiness, live data, freeze frame, O2 sensors, EVAP and pending codes. It resets the oil service (indicator, mileage and interval) and calibrates the steering angle sensor. It stores your history and prints reports from a Windows PC.
What the BMM V1.0 doesn't do
It doesn't register batteries, open the electronic parking brake or code the EWS or keys. It isn't bi-directional either. On a modern BMW, where a new battery has to be registered, that's a significant limitation.
BMM V1.0 or BMM V2.0
The BMM V2.0 covers the same cars for €60 more, with a 4" screen and nine functions, including battery registration, parking brake and DPF. For a BMW from the last fifteen years, go for the V2.0. For a classic, or just reading faults, the V1.0.
