VAWS V1.0 description
The iCarsoft VAWS V1.0 is the straightforward tool for the Volkswagen Group: it reads and clears faults on every control unit in VW, Audi, SEAT and Skoda models from 1996 and has two service functions, the oil and inspection reset and the steering angle. It costs €134.95 with no fees.
Find out what's wrong with your Golf, Polo or Fabia
A warning light comes on and you want to know if it's serious before heading to the garage. Plug it in, it reads the VIN and tells you which control unit has stored the fault, whether that's the engine, ABS, airbag, gearbox or any other module in the car. With live data and freeze frame you can see the conditions when it appeared. If it's something you can fix yourself, you fix it and clear the code.
When you change the oil, it resets the service indicator, mileage and interval. And if you've replaced a steering part or had an alignment, it recalibrates the angle sensor.
Older cars and new ones
As well as CAN-FD, used on the group's latest platforms, it speaks TP2.0, TP1.6, KWP2000 and K-Line, the protocols of older VAG cars. It also covers Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, VW LT3, light MAN vans, Bentley, Bugatti and Lamborghini. It has all 10 OBD2 modes, handy for checking the emissions monitors before the MOT or NCT.
2.8" screen with buttons, six languages (English included) and updates over USB from your computer, with no card or Wi-Fi needed.
Is it enough, or do you need the V2.0?
It doesn't open the electronic parking brake, regenerate the DPF or register batteries. If your car has an electronic parking brake or is a TDI with a particulate filter, the VAWS V2.0 does all that for €60 more. For reading faults and doing the service reset, the V1.0 has you more than covered.
