KR V1.0 description
The iCarsoft KR V1.0 is a make-specific tool for Hyundai and Kia that reads and clears faults and resets the service interval. At €134.95 it's iCarsoft's cheapest option for these two makes.
Beyond the engine
A generic OBD2 reader only shows you the engine. The KR V1.0 also gets into the airbag and the braking and stability systems: ESP, ASR, ETS and ABS. When one of those warning lights comes on in an i30, a Ceed or a Sportage, you see the code, know which system it is and decide whether to sort it yourself or take it to a garage.
After a service, it resets the maintenance reminder. We explain how in how to do an oil service reset.
What's left out
It doesn't do bleeding, it doesn't regenerate the particulate filter and it doesn't retract the electronic parking brake pistons. If you're changing the rear pads on a car with an electronic brake, or you have a CRDi with a troublesome DPF, you need a different tool.
Makes, years and connection
Hyundai and Kia passenger cars through the OBD2 port. The starting year depends on the model, so tell us yours and we'll confirm it's covered. Menus in English, among other languages, and the first year of updates is free.
KR V2.0 and JP V2.0
The KR V2.0 is the next generation and adds Daewoo, but it's still a reader. If what you need is the electronic parking brake, DPF or battery registration, the JP V2.0 covers Hyundai and Kia with nine service functions. For a recent Tucson or Sportage, that's the one we recommend.
